主角是兄弟两个charlie sheen--经典电影华尔街，野战排，电视the spin city政界小人物的男主角，the west wing白宫风云总统扮演者Martin sheen(电影现代启示录) 的儿子，007女郎丹尼斯里查兹的前夫，离婚中。
他是花花公子的典型，对女人很有手段，做广告配乐的，几乎不工作，却能赚大把的钱，穿梭不断的美女和音乐就是他生活的主题。可是alan的出现打破了他单身汉的快乐生活。
Alan被老婆赶了出来，和兄弟Charlie住在一起。工作是指压按摩师。他是一个有责任心，对妻子百依百顺的好丈夫，但是唧唧歪歪的性格，粘粘糊糊的脾气，让人想到唐僧。一直试图和妻子和好，分居了还老回去乾家务，她却宣布自己是女同性恋。
一个儿子Jake，胖胖的很可爱，虽然年纪小小，也有点好色，无论多少东西都吃得下。大智若愚的性格，让他成为本剧的大亮点，一点不输给两个成年的男主角。和蜡笔小心有得一拼。

Charlie (Charlie Sheen, Spin City) is a well-to-do bachelor with a house at the beach, a Jaguar in the garage and an easy way with women. His casual Malibu lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly wound brother, Alan (Jon Cryer, Pretty in Pink, The Trouble with Normal), who's facing a divorce, and Alan's son, Jake (Angus T. Jones, See Spot Run, The Rookie), come to stay with him. Together, these two and a half men confront the challenges of growing upfinally. Complicating matters are the brothers' self-obsessed, controlling mother, Evelyn (Holland Taylor, Baby Bob), and Alan's possibly gay estranged wife, Judith (Marin Hinkle, Once and Again). Not to forget Rose (Melanie Lynskey, Detroit Rock City), a one night stand and current neighbor of Charlie's, who wants to be a part of his life and is willing to do anything to be around.
